I was born and raised in Texas City, Texas. And though it is hot and humid, the clouds are some of the most beautiful anywhere. They are low-hanging and fluffy. I used to stretch out on the grass at night with a cousin or two and gaze up at the stary sky and watch the clouds drift by.The moon rises over the water there in the bay. A beautiful sight to behold. Back then, we lived only one block from Bay Street and used to walk down to the sea wall, climb over and run across the golf course and go down to the beach during the day. But night was our star-gazing and cloud-watching time.

"The Thing" was the first sci-fi movie for me. I was only seven and went alone. Back then were easier times. My grandmother would watch me walk up the hill in Hillsboro, Texas (where I lived until around eleven) and until I turned the corner and she could no longer see me. I can vividly remember a little cafe just to the side of the old theater there. I would go in a get a hot dog. Delicious! Then go on to the movie theatre where my Aunt Opel worked. My favorite movies then were sci-fi and western. They are still my favorite genres.
